SUMMARY:Inktense Landscape Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This exciting workshop is being taught by Unique Cottage Studio artists Angela Daymond and Jacs Harris. You will spend the morning in Jacs’ studio learning how to apply inktense pencils to both fabric and threads. Inktense pencils are highly pigmented water-soluble pencils that become permanent when dry. You will be creating the background for your stitching and also colouring the threads that you will use. \nYou will spend the afternoon in Angela’s studio preparing your fabrics for stitching and then stitching onto them using kantha techniques along with embroidery stitches. You will learn about how using different thicknesses of threads can bring depth and perspective to your work. You’ll discover how fibre twists & strengthens into thread. Using locally sourced wool connects the process to the land and its traditions\, making this a perfect session for beginners or anyone curious about the ancient craft of spinning. \nGillian Wing – Fen Inspired Nature Printing Workshop\nHave you ever picked up a beautiful feather and wished you could make a print to frame or use for collage. Now is your chance to experiment with nature printing and achieve some great results. \nFiona Gurney – Fenland Landscape Mosaic Workshop\n‘Paint’ a fen skyscape with broken china in a modern take on mosaic making. Silhouetted against the moon you will begin to stitch different grasses and plants. \nJacs Harris – Mixed Media Fenland Panorama Workshop\nExplore the beauty of the Fenlands in this mixed media art session. Capture the colours\, textures\, patterns and shapes of wide open skies and expansive landscape. Experiment with various drawing techniques\, tools\, inks\, watercolour paints and pens and pencils. Following step-by-step guidance you will create a beautiful panorama artwork on paper to take home. Perfect for all skill levels\, this class will help you bring the magic of the Fens to life. \nFinch and Toad Upholstery – Wild Grass Lampshade Workshop\nDuring this session\, you will learn how to make a professionally finished\, modern drum lampshade for your home. The frame\, lining and fabric for your 20cm lampshade will be supplied as well as all the materials and tools. We will be using colourful wild grass patterned fabric.\nThere are 3 different colourways to choose from on the day. \nJo Banks – Submerged Fenland Flora Workshop\nIn this creative submerged flower photography workshop\, you’ll work in pairs using my cameras and flash setups to explore this fun technique. Inspired by the colours and textures of the Fens\, you’ll use fresh and dried flowers\, milk\, and food dyes to craft striking abstract images. Each participant receives a 6×4 print.
