Workshops
Indian Block Printed Hare – Saturday 25th April

Indian wooden block printing is an ancient technique where an image or pattern is carved into a wooden block leaving the image to be printed raised. Angela will guide you through how to make a mask using freezer paper which you secure to white cotton fabric before you begin to print with the wooden blocks. You will be shown how to apply paint to the printing blocks and get tips for printing onto fabric.
This workshop starts at 10:00am and finishes at 4:00pm.
Once completed you will mark out your hare shape before layering up your fabrics ready for stitching. In the workshop you will be able to stitch around a few of your shapes and the outer edge of your hare. Angela will give you lots of ideas for background stitching when you get home. Due to the nature of wooden block printing everyone’s piece will be totally stunning and individual. This workshop is suitable for those of all levels.
Shibori Day 2026 – Saturday 23rd May

Shibori is a traditional Japanese resist dyeing technique, to create the resist you will fold, twist, stitch and clamp fabrics in a variety of ways to make amazing patterns in the fabrics once dyed. Throughout the day you will work with Angela to discover different ways to clamp, wrap, stitch
and fold your white fabric ready for the dye pot. Some of the techniques will be fast and others will need you to relax and make running stitches with the perle 8 thread in different patterns which will then be pulled up and tied together before dyeing.
You will leave the workshop with full instructions about how to dye your fabrics at home, how to prepare the dye and rinse the fabrics before you admire your work. Suggestions are also given as to what you can do with your shibori dyed fabrics once completed.
This workshop starts at 10:00am and finishes at 4:00pm.
